Get to know Paolo Barberis

Paolo Barberis, founder of Dada, was born in La Spezia in 1967. He studied Architecture in Italy and Germany. Following the degree, he specialized in Interface Design at Domus Academy in Milan.

In 1994, at the age of 27 together with some of his Florence University mates, he creates Dada, Internet Company whose acronym means Design Architettura Digitale Analogico (Design Architecture Digital Analogic).

Paolo grows his company with the same visionary spirit which still distinguishes him, managing to capture the needs of the Network users of those years and anticipating several of the scenarios and potentialities of the new millennia digital.

He fostered the development of the Network in Italy, guiding the users through the discovery of Internet. Starting from the simple connectivity of 1995, via dialup, throughout the years he offered new ways to live and interpret the Network, all oriented to making it a point of presence, natural aggregation and sharing.

In 1999 he creates superEva (www.superEva.it), the “mytical” location of the Italian Network perceiving the enormous potentiality of the web community concept.

In 2000 he is one of the youngest ever presidents of a publicly listed company and brings Dada to the public via an IPO at the Milan Stock Exchange on the 29th of June.

For the general public he develops innovation, within Dada, with products and services dedicated to Digital Music, Mobile Applications, Mobile Services and Social Community. For companies and professional clients, through the Dada.pro business unit and Register.it he positions Dada as the most successful and growing entity in Europe in the fields of Dominions, professional Hosting, virtual and dedicated Servers and advanced online Advertising solutions.

In ’98 he is among the founders of the italian section of IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau) and in ’99 in the Italian Chapter of ISOC (Internet Society).

Through innovation, pragmatism, speed, team work and especially a strong passion, Paolo brought Dada to be one of the lead companies with branches in Florence, Milan, Bergamo, New York, Barcelona, Paris, London, Worcester, Beijing, Rio de Janeiro and a team of over 800 people mostly under 35. He leaves Dada in 2011. He was part of the Ministry of Economic Development’s task force on the Startup theme in 2012.

Founding partner of Italia Startup (society born in 2012 to incentivize italian innovative entrepreneurship), in 2012 he founded the accelerator Nana Bianca with Alessandro Sordi and Jacopo Marello.
He is an Advisor for innovation of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi from September 2014, from September 2016 he is also part of the Team for the digital transformation at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
