Marinella Soldi was Managing Director Southern Europe for Discovery Networks for 10 years. She was responsible for the businesses in Italy, Spain, Portugal and France, in the last year she also had responsibility for Consumer Insights, Product Development and Content functions for EMEA and Discovery Networks International, in the additional role of Chief Strategic Officer.
Under her leadership Discovery Southern Europe completely transformed its business and its size, from pure linear pay to a diversified portfolio of linear pay, fta/broadcast and OTT, across different genres including entertainment, sports, kids, comedy. In 2017 Italy became the biggest country for revenue and overall audience outside of the USA, and the third national broadcaster in that country in terms of share.
Before joining Discovery Marinella worked for leading international brands in the technology and media sectors as a certified executive coach. Prior to this she spent five years in senior roles at MTV Networks Europe, including SVP Strategic Development in London and GM, MTV Italy in Milan. She began her career at McKinsey Company working as a strategy consultant for three years in London and Italy.
Soldi holds a BSc in Economics from The London School of Economics and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
