Get to know Maurizia Cacciatori

Maurizia Cacciatori (Carrara, April 6th, 1973) is a former volleyball player, the only icon of Italian volleyball. She started at a very young age in her city team, Carrara, with which she got a historic promotion in A2. She debuted in Serie A1 in 1989, at age 16, with INA Assitalia Perugia. She confirmed herself on excellent stage and remained in the top category for nearly two decades, alternating in various teams including Amazzoni Agrigento, Volley Bergamo and Napoli Center Ester. She spent the last years of her long and successful career in Spain. Maurizia’s achievements count 17 trophies, more than any other female player. She collected 228 appearances in Italian National Team, and she won many medals: Gold at the Mediterranean Games (2001), Bronze and a Silver at the Europeans in 1999 and 2001. In 2000, in Sidney she was the captain of the team that made the first Olympic Games appearance ever. After completing her career, she alternated television commitments and advisory activities for companies, especially for HR management. She was EXPO 2015’s Ambassador.
