Dedicated and passionate about the world of start-ups, he is co-founder and CEO of Creative Thinking Ventures, a micro venture capital fund which specializes in pre-seed financing and advisory services for start-ups and SMEs, and is founding investor in http://www.sharewood.io/ – http://www.worldz.net – http://www.gardenstuff.it – https://www.thesociallender.it/; the fund has assisted two of these start-ups to close rounds of financing in 2017, with external investors. Manager and entrepreneur, born in The Netherlands, Marnix has travelled extensively, he has lived in 6 European countries and is fluent in six languages. A graduate of Bocconi University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Warwick Business School. Marnix is board member and advisor of several companies, as an expert in business development and international marketing, and has managed start-up situations and the opening of new markets as well. He also has led turnarounds and the restructuring of SMEs. Marnix combines the structured mind-set of the multinational with the intuitiveness and initiative typical of entrepreneurial companies.
He began his career with PPG Industries, has been buyer and category manager with Leroy-Merlin (Auchan Group), business unit manager with Inda and COO of Inda France, division director international with the US multinational company Sherwin-Williams. In parallel, he has developed his entrepreneurial activities since 2004 with a consultancy service aimed at developing sales networks, and started the fund in 2009 with the first investments in nano and micro caps on the NASDAQ. The latest venture is LAB Creative Thinking, an alternative and virtual accelerator for start-ups and SMEs which he founded with Claudia Perin, a well-known engineer in information technology and originator of a number of patents. His main business interests are in sales, commerce and retail, online and offline, marketplaces and start-ups operating in the sharing economy.
